Suresh Productions began their first film venture “Anuragam” in the year 1963 and went on to produce the super hit film “Ramudu Bheemudu” with NTR, to establish themselves film in the Telugu film industry. Padmabhushan, Dr. D. Ramanaidu, the legendary filmmaker helped bring the film industry to Hyderabad from Chennai. He gave Indian cinema some of its finest artists, technicians and made some of India’s most memorable films. He is listed as the most prolific producer with over 155 films to his credit.
Dr. D Ramanaidu has produced, processed, edited, printed and distributed all his films on his own, which is one of the key reasons for having invested, developed and operationalized state of the art film infrastructure at Ramanaidu Studios. From extremely humble beginnings, he has gone on to become one of the greatest success stories of his generation, an inspiration for the youth today.
Dr. D. Ramanaidu was awarded the third highest Civilian Award in the Republic of India, the Padma Bhushan, in recognition for his contribution to Telugu cinema, presented by the President Pranab Mukherjee on the Republic Day, January 26th 2013.
President Pratibha Patil conferred the Dada Saheb Phalke award 2009 on veteran film producer Dr. D. Ramanaidu for rendering outstanding contribution to the world of Indian cinema during the 57th National Film Awards function.
Dr. D. Ramanaidu is distinguished to have received the unique honorary doctorate from Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupati. He is also the recipient of several awards that include the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award for outstanding contribution to Film Industry, the Best Producer Award at the 46th National Film Festival for the Bengali Film ‘Asuk’.
Dr. D. Ramanaidu won the Guinness Book of World Records in 1999 and Limca Book of Records in 1998 for producing the maximum number of films in Indian Cinema. He also received international recognition when his film “Soggadu” was selected for Tashkent Film Festival in 1976.
Dr. D. Ramanaidu has served as a Member of Parliament in the 13th Lok Sabha, from the Bapatla Constituency in Andhra Pradesh and was responsible for evolving policies, strategies and missions for many development applications. He also served as Member Committee for External Affairs and Member Consultative Committee, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Apart from his contribution to film and entertainment, his philanthropic side is not really known to most people. The Ramanaidu Charitable Trust has taken unprecedented steps to provide and support various schools, colleges, old age homes and hospitals. The trust has donated altruistically for the sacrifice of our brave men and women in uniform and their families. Dr. D. Ramanaidu’s innovative pursuits continue as he takes up the mission to ignite young creative minds by developing an indigenous Institute for film production technology and film studies. He is married to Rajeshwari and has 3 children – Suresh, Venkatesh and Lakshmi.
Although his sons and grandson now handle company operations, Dr. D. Ramanaidu continues to produce films, keenly follow changing trends in the industry and constantly motivates his dedicated team to adapt and update themselves to the ever-evolving world of entertainment.
Suresh Babu, Managing Director, Suresh Productions, a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Michigan, began his film career in the early 80’s with the Telugu film ‘Devatha’. He was instrumental in shifting the Telugu film industry to Hyderabad. Having produced several successful feature films, he continues to add to his growing repertoire.

Rana Daggubati, his son, is a National award winning filmmaker, Digital Post entrepreneur, and a successful actor in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films.
Venkatesh, popularly known as ‘Victory Venkatesh’ and is one of Telugu cinema’s most successful actors. With a career spanning 25 years and over 62 films to his credit, Venkatesh has received several national and state awards for his critically acclaimed performances.
As Director on the Board of Suresh Productions, Venkatesh is extremely active in the creative processes. He became an actor in Telugu films with his debut film ‘Kaliyuga Pandavulu’ in 1986. This film also gave him his first Nandi award, a rare accomplishment for an actor on debut. He won 7 Nandi awards, 4 Filmfare awards and many others awards as best actor for playing a variety of challenging roles in his career.
His brother D Suresh Babu, a very successful producer, has produced most of his hit films. Some of Venkatesh’s hits made by Suresh Productions are ‘Bobbili Raja’, ’Chanti’, ’Premichukondam Raa’, ‘Jayam Manade Raa’, ’Kalisundam Raa’, ‘Malleshwari’, ‘Gharshana’, ‘Tulasi’, ‘Namo Venkatesa’, ‘Drishyam’, ‘Gopala Gopala’ and many more.
Grandson of Padmabhushan, Dr. D. Ramanaidu, son of producer D. Suresh Babu, and nephew to Telugu superstar Venkatesh, Rana Daggubati made a sensational debut as the lead actor in the political thriller ‘Leader’ in the year 2010. Having inherited a passion for cinema from his family, in 2006, Rana’s first film as a Producer “A Belly full of Dreams” won him the National Award for best film.
Given his drive for photography and cinematography coupled with his tremendous foresight, he identified an emerging need for digital postproduction services in the industry. His company Spirit Media is accredited with having transformed the evolution of the digital postproduction landscape in South India.
Rana hopes to carry on the family legacy, not just behind the camera but in front of it as well. He is currently starring in the period magnum opus ‘Baahubali’, directed by the India’s ace director SS Rajamouli and the period drama ‘Rudhramadevi’ directed by the eclectic Gunasekhar. He also starred alongside Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher in the super hit Hindi film ‘Baby’ directed by Neeraj Pandey.
